Passengers would take the train from Paterson, N.J. to Oakland, N.J.
They would get off the train at West Oakland Ave. at Pool Hollow Road (The
house at the road entrance was the GATE HOUSE to the private road.) They
would be meet at the train station and be driven up there home at Ramapo
Park ( Skyline Drive didn't exist at that time). Route # 287 has cut off
Pool Hollow Road (Yellow Trail) so it has been diverted to join the Cannonball
Trail, which continues over Route # 287 via a foot bridge. The yellow
trail then seperates on the right and continues to it's original destination.
There is a partially overgrown field (on the right) as you enter the
road from the upper parking lot. (located on Skyline Drive) This was the
Golf Course. There is a Stone Lookout Tower on the road, ( on private property)
built during the depression (by the C.C.C.) that was used as a lookout
tower during world War II.
