BURNS' COTTAGE
Robert
Burns, the Scottish Poet, was born in this cottage,
maintained complete with thatched roof.
The cottage is open for touring, complete with a newfangled
audio-visual program newly located in the area of the home
originally used for housing cattle.
The Auld Kirk
The Auld Kirk in Alloway, Ayr, is the site where Tam
O'Shanter saw the
witches consorting with the d'eel hissel in Robert Burn's epic
poem.
This view is taken from a turn of the century post
card.
The Auld Kirk hasn't changed much in the last 100 years.
Robert Burns' ma and da are buried in the kirkyard.

In the poem Tam
O'Shanter, the witches in the auld kirk
chase Tam across the Brig o'Doon.
The Brig is now closed to aught but pedestrian traffic.
This pic is taken from the Robert Burns Memorial tower
which houses lovely statues of Tam and Souter Johnny
surrounded by gardens. On the other side of the Brig
are homes. One in particular boasts a highland koo.
