Scotland's Capital city, Edinburgh is dominated by the
Castle.
And och! what a Castle it tis!

Started on Castle Rock, the Castle was originally
surrounded by a wooden stockade. Over the years it was built upon and
built upon. It has everything your castle's heart could desire, from
Meg Mons, the biggest cannon in Scotland (maybe even the world!), to
dark and dank dungeons, to a plaque marking the site of witch
burings, to Saint Margaret's Chapel, to the birthing bed where Mary
Queen of Scots gave life to the infant James Stuart, to a pet
cemetary built into the sides of the rock.

This turn of the century postcard shows the Castle from
the
same vantage as the above pic, labeled in the card as
"the haystacks."

It's no a verra good idea to annoy tha
sentries.
What view of Edinburgh would be complete without
the infamous Tolbooth?
