Inverness was sacked so many times, its not that exciting as a tourist trap.

After Culloden, The Brits conducted a manhunt Bonnie Prince Charlie, as well as all Jacobites. The Monument to Flora MacDonald, who was instrumental in saving the Bonnie Prince's head is located in Inverness. Don't ask me why, as she was from Skye, and she smuggled the Prince to the Mainland disguised as her maid. Maybe its because Culloden is nearby, maybe not. But sure as you're born, this courageous lady did her bit for the rebellion. I believe she was imprisoned after the the Prince's successful escape from Scotland. I don't believe she ever received so much as a Thank-You note from the Great Pretender. I suppose I shoudn't be bitter, as he wasn't raised in Scotland..

View of the Killiecrankie, Pitlochry, near Inverness. Pitlochry is a lovely little village, about 1 hour south of Inverness, so I've put it with Inverness. Its a fun place to stop...
and shop... and shop... and shop....
