This course is designed to meet the curricular expectations of the New Jersey State Department of Education. The NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards for science were inspired by the following national reform efforts in science education: 

• Benchmarks for Science Literacy - Project 2061 of the AAAS 

• Scope, Sequence and Coordination - National Science Teachers Association 

• National Science Education Standards - National Resource Council

The challenging curricular activities of this course have been correlated to the standards and benchmarks developed by these organizations and the State of New Jersey. 

Biology Online

• This course is divided into six units based on the six content areas described in the National Science Education Standards.  

• Each unit is further subdivided into "Topics of Study" 

• The Topics of Study include; online textbook readings, NSTA microunits (to download), online activities, and the standards & benchmarks which they address. 

• Use the "Back" button of your browser whenever you need to return to the syllabus from a site that you have accessed. 

• Please feel free to link to this site, inform students, teachers and parents about it, or include it as part of your daily instruction.
