Healing The Children, Midlantic

The Board Of Trustees of Healing The Children, Midlantic Inc. governs the activities of the organization. Each Board member has been active in all phases of the organization. Decisions voted on by Board members require a simple majority. The members of the Board are:
 Evelyn Dudziec,  Founder and Executive Director.   Mrs. Dudziec directs HTC Midlantic and conducts all the business of the organization from an office in her Kinnelon, NJ home.  She and her husband have five children, 4 of whom are adopted. Mrs. Dudziec founded HTC Midlantic in 1981, she has been its Executive Director since that date. She and her family have been host to more than 50 children since the founding of HTC Midlantic.Mrs. Dudziec served 2 years as Board Member for the Maternal Child Health Consortium of Northern NJ and and recently started a new organization called “Katie’s House Inc., an assisted living facility for adults with developmental delays. She has been recognized with many honors, including Citizen of the Year (’84), the Wm. F. Johnson award from St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center (’91), Humanitarian of the Year Award (’93), Imagine Award (’94), the First Cathedral Honor Award at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist-RC Diocese of Paterson (1998). She has been featured Ch 9’s “NJ People”, Ch 5’s “Unsung Heroes” and “Goodday America” and Ch 4’s “Local Heroes”. In 2003 she was presented the Russ Berry Award for “Making a Difference” at New Jersey’s Ramapo College.
Frank Light, M.D. - Trustee and Vice President.  Dr. Light first joined the HTC Midlantic team in 1988 as the medical team’s chief anesthesiologist. He and his wife have hosted several HTC children. In 1989 he accepted the position of Trustee for HTC and also the position of Director of Medical Trips.  Dr. Light is a graduate of the New Jersey College of Medicine and is a Board certified anesthesiologist.  Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Light was President of the Board of Trustees of John E. Runnel Hospital and was a member of the Board of Trustees of Family and Children’s Services.  He has been recognized for his many contributions by receiving HTC’s Sergio Award (1994), Rahway Hospital’s Humanitarian Award (’86), The Russ Berry “Making a Difference” Award at Ramapo College (’00).

Tom Ferry - Trustee and Treasurer.  Tom Ferry and his wife Gail have been volunteers for HTC Midlantic since 1984. Of their four children their youngest son John joined their family through Healing the Children. John is visually impaired and was born in the Bahamas. Tom graduated from Colgate University and retired from Xerox Corporation after 35 years of service in various sales, marketing and training positions, including Sales Manager and Major Account Manager. Tom is a board member of Parents of Blind Children of NJ of which he and Gail are founding members; Tom is also a volunteer at the Good Shepherd Mission in Paterson, a coach for various local sports teams and a high school chaperone. His hobbies include boating, water skiing, fishing, scuba diving and snow skiing.

Rena Tolsma, Trustee and Secretary.  Mrs. Tolsma joined HTC Midlantic in 1995 as a host parent for children traveling to the United States for medical care. She has continued serving the organization, as a host parent,  as translator and as a guest speaker. She also serves on the HTC Fund Raising Committee. She was appointed to the Board in 2003.  Mrs. Tolsma has served as a volunteer for the Eastern Christian Middle School and has been a member of the Luke Society, traveling to Honduras on medical trips.
Donald Cinotti, M.D. - TrusteeDr. Cinotti has volunteered his expertise to HTC locally and internationally since 1989. He joined HTC Midlantic’s Board in 1994 and also serves as Trip Chief for HTC’s ophthalmology medical trips. He is a Board certified Ophthalmologist who received his undergraduate degree from Wabash University and his professional degree from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. He is a member of  the faculty of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey as a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and was Director of Trauma for the Eye Institute of New Jersey and UMDNJ.  He has also been a recipient of HTC Midlantic’s Sergio Award (1994).
Sister Jane Frances Brady, Trustee. Sister Jane served as President & CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital Medical Center for 26 years. Since 1981 she has been part of HTC by accepting children for free medical care at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Shehas participated in HTC Midlantic’s medical trip effort since 1991 when she was part of the volunteer team on its first trip to Kenya. She was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1995 and continues to share her administrative skill supervising the details of patient care for HTC medical teams. She has been a team member on medical trips to Panama, El Salvador, Morocco, and the Dominican Republic.  Sister Jane has received numerous awards recognizing her contributions, including Woman of the Year Award (’90, ’92, ’95, ’96, ’99), Citation of Merit-NJ Association of Nonprofit Homes for the Aqing (’87),  Wm Patterson College Foundation Legacy Award (’90), Palestinian Heritage Foundation Humanitarian Award (’97), Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice Award-Diocese of Paterson (’98), NJ Pride Award-NJ Monthly Magazine (’98).
