Karl Sjodahl's Home Page
Hi, and welcome to my Home Page.

Karl Sjodahl

A pronunciation guide for the Swedish impaired. (American Version)
Sjodahl is pronounced "show-doll", with a slight accent on the second syllable.
(This pronunciation only works in the US... Real Swedes will not understand.)

This page features personal and family news (not updated as often as I'd like),
links to areas of the site related to my professional life and links for entertainment and
education professionals interested in Educational Entertainment Design.

Just for fun, we created a web site devoted to T.H.E... my college rock band.

Enjoy your visit...

This site, and many of its linked pages, show up on several prominent search engines. If you have recently arrived, I  welcome you and invite your comments about anything presented here. All contents of this site are Copyrighted and may not be copied without permission.

Throughout my professional life, I have actively pursued projects which combine entertainment, inspiration and learning. Entertainment technologies like storytelling, immersive environments, live performers, film, video, audio, lighting and special effects, are powerful tools in the creation of memorable experiences which both engage and empower participants.

Roger Trauth - 1946-2004

Roger Trauth Music Pics
Roger Trauth, performing at a Jewel recording session in 1986 and attending a band reunion lunch in 2003.

On January 3rd, 2004, we said goodbye to one of our closest friends when Roger Trauth lost a three year battle with cancer. Roger was a talented musician, a devoted husband and father, and a great friend. I met him in 1966 when we attended classes together at the University of Cincinnati. Roger was my favorite collaborator on many TV, radio and music projects during our college years. He was a big supporter of our college band, T.H.E... He played sousaphone with the UC Marching Band. He performed on bass, guitar, piano and vocals with numerous local groups including the popular Joe Dixon Trio in the early 70s. We had the pleasure of recording together six times between 1973 and 2003 as the P.O.S. Symphony. The photo above-left was taken at a P.O.S. session in 1986.

Above all, Roger was devoted to his wife Debi and his son Danny. He worked professionally as a real estate appraiser He was active in his church and with his son's activities. He leaves a wide network of family and friends. In so many ways, Roger will always be with us, but we will miss his humor, his knowledge, his honesty, his passion for music, and above all, his undying friendship.

Roger's Obituary appeared in the Cincinnati Enquirer on Saturday, January 17, 2004.

Rock And Roll for the Fun of it!
T.H.E... Home Page Image
Welcome to T.H.E... Music
The life and times of "T.H.E..." a 1960s Cincinnati garage band.

In addition to stories about the guys, there are pages on their equipment, reunions, the decade of the '60s, the music of the '60s, and the big groups who influenced Cincinnati's '60s garage bands..

Other pages look at two related groups, The One Night Band ('71) and the P.O.S. Symphony ('72-'03).

T.H.E... NEWS

T.H.E... made it's first live appearance in thirty-three years on Sunday, April 21, 2002, at the Double Door Inn in Charlotte, North Carolina. (There are photos from the show HERE.) We performed a short set of classic '60s tunes. The live show was part of our 2002 Reunion which included studio recordings for an upcoming CD. Two additional reunions and recording sessions followed in 2003, and other sessions in 2004. Work on the CD continues in 2005.

The December 2001 edition of Lance Monthly (an electronic publication devoted to garage band music) featured an interview about the band. Here's a link to the article.
