Reviews
"Detection is clearly an
important part of chromatography. While new monographs on HPLC
detection are published once in a while, this book has more of a practical
flavor to it than most of its competitors. The editor has assembled a nice
collection of authors who are either instrument manufacturers or serious users
in the industrial laboratory. It is noteworthy that the chapters do not show
particular biases or commercial overtones that reflect the authors backgrounds....[This book] will prove to be an asset to every LC
laboratory."
--JOURNAL OF CHROMATOGRAPHY
"This book provides an
abundance of practical information on HPLC detection
in a readily accessible format. While the book is organized by chapters on
specific types of HPLC detection, there is also a
consistent theme within chapters providing the HPLC
user with discussions on the appropriate uses for the detection method,
advantages and disadvantages of various designs of detectors, and realistic
solutions to some problems inherent with specific types of detectors....The
purpose of the book is to be a guide for the everyday work of the chromatographer.
It meets this goal very nicely, and both the beginner and the more experienced
chromatographer should find it useful....[The book]
will undoubtedly be a welcome reference for the many researchers who rely on HPLC."

I've started tracing my family roots. I've been lucky with some branches of my family, and have hit a dead end with others. I use Family Tree Maker to maintain my data. Family Tree Maker allows its customers to set up a home page on their server. This list contains all of the relatives I've been able to find.
The GenServ System is an on-line database system which contains information for millions of people. To use the system, you must join, which involves (1) sending them information (in GEDCOM format) about the people in your genealogy files, and (2) paying a very reasonable annual fee (starting at $12 US).
The GenServ System allows you to search for information that others have submitted for a surname or individual you are interested in, and to view that information in a variety of report formats. The system also provides you with contact information for the person who submitted the data so you can contact him/her directly.
GenServ is a great place to trade information, and is really worth the investment!
I am the moderator for four discussion lists dedicated to
trading information on their respective family surnames (and similar
spellings). The surnames and lists are summarized below. To subscribe to any of
these lists, send a message to the address indicated. In the subject line, type
