Okay, you know things are slowing down when the only news I have to report today has to do with Mike Tyson. Anyway, according to Ashton Bailey, Jeff Goldblum was present at the recent fight, and could be seen "looking worried and pointing" as Tyson took a taste of 'Ear du Holyfield'...

While the results of last week's poll (or I should say 'last several week's poll') show that most people (79%) think that JP2 will beat out M.I.B. at the box office this summer, in reality it looks doubtful. However, there might still be hope for JP2 if you consider what it makes in other countries.

That was the last poll of Dan's LW Page. Thanks to all who have voted in the various poll's I've had these past months. The new poll will be "Rate JP2", and will stay that way indefinitely, so we can get a running total of people's opinions on the movie.

The final section of the Official LW Page has been added, completing the site. Click on the "Hunters Camp", to learn about some of the special effects in The Lost World. Some highlights:

Well, that's it for today. Oh yeah, despite the advertising for the new movie "Event Horizon", the only way this movie could be considered "scary" is because of the loud un-expected noises that cause you to jump. Other than that, I'd classify this movie as "disgusting, gross, sick, and satanic". If you want to be scared, I'd suggest Aliens, Jaws, or heck, even Jurassic Park.

Thought the JP2 promotion has died-down? Think again! Universal is gearing up for a huge promotion of the video release of the movie, which (according to a Universal press release) will be "launched with an unprecedented $50 million in marketing supporting, including spectacular, one-of-a-kind 3-D packaging, breakthrough point-of-sales materials, massive media support, multiple cross-promotional programs and an aggressive on-line marketing initiative." Also participating in the promotion are Tropicana and Discover Card, which will also "deliver multi-million-dollar promotional programs and advertising campaigns.": And since a few people have asked, yes, the Laser Disc and DVD versions of The Lost World are scheduled to be released on the same day as the video, November 4th. (The Laser Disc will be released in widescreen version for $39.98, while the video will have a retail price of $22.98)

The official LW site at Universal Studios has been updated, with a message that states "TLW - Coming to Videocassette -- Check back soon for photos and information from our New York press event."

The Universal people also sent out a mailing list message which announced that the long-awaited "behind the scenes" section of the Official JP2 Page will be opened tomorrow, Friday the 15th. According to the mailing, head straight for the "Hunters area" where "you will learn how Steven Spielberg and the Academy Award winning special effects triad of Dennis Muren (full motion dinosaurs), Stan Winston (live action dinosaurs) and Michael Lantieri (special dinosaur effects) weave their crafts into amazing creatures from over 65 million years ago. Uncover storyboards, multimedia and streaming video from the production of the film and watch dinosaurs come to life."

MPreston88 sent along a Variety report which confirms that JP2 will be released on video on November 4th. I'll have the good 'ol JavaScript counter up on the main page tomorrow.

The box-office battle between MIB and The Lost World continues -- according to Mr. Showbiz, MIB broke the $218 million dollar mark, which puts it only 4 million behind The Lost World. And MIB wasn't that great of a movie either....

No new Trespasser pics yet, however, some news about the music and voice acting in the game. According to the Trespasser website, they are in "final negotiations [for the voice of the main character, Anne] and should be able to announce the actress next month." No official word yet on whether Richard Attenborough will contribute his voice to the game as Hammond.

Also, look for a "huge" story on Trespasser in next month's Next Generation Magazine.

Oh yeah, don't go see Spawn. It sucked.

Chrysler announces in the new issue of Popular Mechanics their newest Dodge truck, called the Ram T-Rex 6x6. While only listed in the "Concept Cars" section at the Dodge website, the T-Rex promises to be the first "three-axle 6x6 personal-use vehicle". (thanks to "nApAlm_")

While unconfirmed, Brandon Shaw reports that the release date of the LW game for the Playstation has been delayed until September 3, 1997

Look for The Lost World in the "dollar theaters", according to Kyle. Unfortunately, the last "dollar theater" near me has become a "$6.50 theater"....

Well, it's a little late, but for the record, "Jurassic Park" was shown last night at the Lost Angeles County Art Museum with DTS sound, along with the LW Trailer with the strobe light effects.

Rumor has it that the Trespasser website will be updated some time today. Check Trespasser: The Digital Sequel for details. BTW, the website for Engage Entertainment (the company that bought the exclusive rights to produce an on-line JP2 game), can be found here

Wondering why the upcoming PC game, Trespasser : Jurassic Park, won't ship with a multi-player component, and instead will be stricly one-player? Well, a report in this month's PC Games Magazine puts some things into focus: The blurb did not mention a release date.

More "Only in England" JP2 Promotions -- Mike Butler points out that "Tetley Tea" has a "Lost World Treasures" offer to collect 8 bronze coins with dinos on them.. Also, look for Free Range Eggs (gotta love those Free Range Eggs) in British supermarkets with the contest to win a trip to California.

Malcolm144 reports that the JP2 game for the Sony Playstation is scheduled to be released on August 26th, for around $49.95 retail. In Malcolm's words: "I do not own a Playstation, but I am going to buy one before Aug 26... just because of this game."

NickVOwen reports that the Genesis and Game Gear JP2 Game's are now out! Check your local Wal-Mart.

Lucky Dave Paniagua got to play the new JP2 Arcade Game, at a GameWorks Arcade (that's the new chain of arcades partially owned by Steven Spielberg) in Ontario, California. Here's his review:

Someone over at Thrillride.com, my favorite rollercoaster website, has been sneaking around the work-site of Universal's Islands of Adventure (the new area of Universal Studios Flordia to open next year), and came back with this pic of the "Pteranodon Flyer ride"

More overseas box office results, thanks to Chris Beeman:

Of course, the big story in the US is whether MIB will surpass the box office record set this summer by The Lost World. While MIB has made $208,122,305 in 27 days of release, TLW is leading slighly with $223,886,079.

Another potential JP2 Goof from Zej -- When the "unlucky bastard" David Koepp is running towards the video store entrance, look for the steady-cam operator's reflection in the glass door.

New frames layout today at DLWP. Hope everyone likes it, and visits my brand spankin-new sponsor, Techworks. As a fellow web-surfer, I know the multiple ads must be getting quite annoying, but hopefully I've made it not overly annoying, as many sites out there have. Notice the "quick-links" at the bottom right, as well as the pull-down menu of other links. Please let me know if you find one that's broken.

According to compy, many JP2 promotions in England are different than those in the states: Brits should keep their eyes out for 50 different "Pop-O-Saurus"'s which you can collect in two different brands of Potato Chip bags. Also, the ever-popular JP2 Pop!

The official Hasbro JP2 Toys website is now up, which lets you browse through the many, many toys that have been released. Nice HTML too. (thanks to compy)

This is the "The Lost World: Jurassic Park Mini-Figure Maker Assortment", which lets kids "create figures with Air Hardening Compound!"

The "The Lost World: Jurassic Park Card Game"

Every kid needs a "Lost World: Jurassic Park Utility Belt"!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the kind e-mails I've been getting (some of them sound like someone died...jeeze...). But, all good things must come to an end, and this page is no exception. Hopefully, with the message board, fan fiction, and chat room staying up, this page will stay active far into the future. So maybe all good things don't have to end!

Anime Fans: "Anime Fest' 97" starts tonight on the Sci-Fi Channel!

Talking about the "two discussions at once" filmmaking device, Jeff Taggart wanted to correct me: Spielberg was most definitely not the first director to use this. Jeff points out that Robert Altman (MASH, Short Cuts) has used the same device in his movies and tv shows.

Interesting movie tid-bit: While JP2 did well in Mexico it's opening week, it was beat out by an unlikely competitor: Volcano. The reason? Around that time there was a real volcano, the Popocatepetl, waking up in the surrounding areas -- people were more interested in seeing a movie with a volcano, just to see what might happen if it actually blew than a movie with dinos. (thanks to Zej).

More JP2 merchandise: LW dinowriters (pens with dinos on the ends) have been spotted, as well as an LW card game. (thanks to Vanessa Anderson

The Sphere trailer was on ET last night -- looks very cool. IF you missed it, don't worry, Chris got it, and posted it on his page, Here (5mb)

Well, the time has come folks. After a lot of thought, I have decided to shut down my Lost World website at the end of the month, when I leave to go to college. I must admit that some recent events have affected my decision, as well as the recent shortness of good JP2 news. While I will not close the page entirely (the chat room and media gallery will still be here, as will be the index of the what's new pages), the page will not be updated as often as it has been. It's been a great 10 or so months, by far the best I've had on the Net -- but who knows... *If* there's a JP3, you can be good money that you-know-who will be there covering the action.
