Thanks for dropping by. I hope you enjoy your visit, learn about me and my interests, and leave with a greater understanding of what it can mean to live with a chronic illness.
Some things that I am involved in:
President, Member of the Board of Trustees, New Jersey Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Association, Inc. a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)(3) corporation;
Founder and Coordinator, SAIL for CF(ID)S sailathon - a project to raise funds for NJCFSA research fund by raising pledges and sailing from Trenton NJ to Washington DC May 4 through May 12;
Participating in the Morris County CFS Support Group (meets every first Saturday of the month at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park, NJ);
Photography - I like doing landscapes, nature, and especially chronicling the development of my little buddies, nephews Thomas and Colin and niece Jocelyn;
Being part of the community of Stanley Congregational Church, Chatham, NJ;
and, last but not least, my loving and supportive family.
Personal Statement
I have been a PWC (Person with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) for almost 1/3 of my life. I have been unable to continue my studies and work in public health since 1985. I developed an interest in computers and online communications as a way of coping with the isolation of being housebound. They have been invaluable tools for exchanging information and support, for political action and for public education. However, there are limitations to electronic communications, such as lack of personal contact, even among healthy people. Without acknowledging and understanding them, misperceptions and misunderstandings can develop. It has saddened me to see the CFS community become divided and weakened in the struggle for respect, recognition and finally, of course, a cause and a cure for this debillitating illness.
