     The debate about concealed carry [CCW] of firearms is rounding the corner. Statistics are being presented to show why when citizens are armed crime goes down. We are all aware that every state were CCW was made law, the crime rate went down, and every place that prohibitive gun laws are in place, crime is rampant...we already know this.

     It is time that New Jersey had it's own CCW law.

     Sociopaths stalk our society, and the judicial system operates on the postulate that the people that commit evil are the victims of societal injustice. Felons are considered the victims of society and the people they pillage and rape are ignored, victims without support. We have repeatedly read about rapist/killers that get out of prison within six years and then commit the same crime. The six or eleven or eighty eight year old victim is dead. No chance of "rehabilitation." Such outrages are so common that they get little press coverage. If the courts cannot protect the innocent, and our elected official on the "Hill" will not...and can not be counted on to protect anyone , anywhere, and at anytime who will?

     You would think that the police would protect you because 'that is there job', but they can not and are also exempt from that safekeeping in virtually every jurisdiction this country I will cite one such statute:

S845. FAILURE TO PROVIDE POLICE PROTECTION.

Neither a public entity nor a public employee is liable for a failure to establish a police department or otherwise provide police protection service or, if police protection is provided, for failure to provide sufficient police protection service.

     That law is a California statute.

     Our lawmakers and judges have isolated themselves from the very violence that assaults us. They are long removed from reality because they lead a privileged protected life from the common occurrence on the mean streets.

They live in gate guarded homes with private security, send their kids to private schools and therefore are not laid open to what the common citizen has to face every day.

     The police are presumed to be the last line of defense against barbarity. But they have become too cynical because of the revolving door of justice and the constant assault on them by the media. Yes they come to the crime scene take their report, do the forensics' and then leave. This is not a hit piece on cop's...I was one. What can we do?

     We must lobby our lawmakers for the right to defend ourselves and our neighbors. We need a concealed carry law in New Jersey. There will be a healthy amount of regard in the criminal community if only ten percent of the population opted to carry. Perhaps the felons will do what they have done in other states and prey on each other instead of us.

     CCW has been passed in twenty three states that already had fairly liberal gun laws, unlike New Jersey. The message must be presented to our citizens that gun barring laws on law abiding citizens, does NOT stop the felon from illegally getting a firearm and using it against you and me. We need to recruit people who are fed up with this assault on our Second Amendment right to the access of firearms. We need people that are equipped to go out and talk to their representative, their lawmakers, and convince them that they must decrease the stricture on the legal ownership of firearms. In short we need the grassroots of New Jersey to coalesce into an organized assemblage that will write our legislators, counter them [politely] in their district offices and make them attentive of our interest and ire.

     If the family is not safe anymore, and the government can not or will not protect us from the depredations of rapists, child molesters, and killers and they allow homicidal sociopaths released from prison to prey on us again, having served less time than an evangelist gone bad or a hotel owner gone greedy, then civilization has ceased to exist. If children are fair game...as any reading of the newspapers will confirm...then we have devolved into savagery.

     Civilization exists only within those tiny units called family, where people care about each other and take care of each other and are willing to put their individual life on the line to protect that family, that is civilization. All I ask is for the legal means to protect my family and so should you.
