Savannah

On my way south, I visited a few nice towns, and I'd have to say, Savannah, GA is one of the prettiest. Most of the city has retained much of it's southern charm.

I'm here up north now, and even though the north is where I was bred and raised, I think the south is in my blood. The old south, that is, not the plastic happenings of the new south.

Therefore, without further ado, I present to you just a small sampling of some of the sites of Savannah, Georgia

When entering the city of Savannah, your best bet, find the visitors center. From there you can board a trolley, at a nominal fee that is. The trolley has pre-designated stops, however you can get on and off at one or the other of these stops and re-board at the same stop or another.

My first stop on this great adventure, was the last stop, down by the riverside. When I say down, I'm not kidding, the trolley proceeds down a very narrow, cobblestone, perpendicular street. However, should your feet wish to get exercised, you can walk down one of these narrow alley ways, running parallel to the main street below.

Lady waiting for lover This picture has a story behind it. It seems, this poor gal kissed here lover goodby when he went off to sea. After which, she went down to the river every time a ship was coming in, in hopes of the return of here lover. He never returned, but she's still waiting. (AND THEY CALL ME DUMB, DUH!!!)
Hey! remember that trolley I was telling you about? Well, here it is, Oh, I'm just kidding. This train runs through the middle of the street. So, I'd definitely advise not walking in the middle of the street.
Ok, you're pooped out, spent all your money at the terrific shops and eateries down here by the river side and it's time to hike back up those stairs. Not to fear, the trolley makes it's stop right here by this big ole bench, just sit yourself down and wait. Or better yet, directly opposite is a park. However don't lie down on the bench, I did, and a cop came and chased me.
